JEFF KEITH – A South Florida native, I grew up playing music, trading songs with friends, learning songs by ear from records, experimenting with different sounds and harmonies. My main influences were the icons of the time – Townsend, Stevie Ray, Page, Hendrix, Clapton, and Gilmour, along with so many others. Guitar heroes like Eric Johnson and Steve Morse also figured heavily. More contemporary players like Bonamassa and John Mayer have also influenced me greatly.
I studied music at North Texas State in their jazz studies program and finished at Florida State University. I taught music full-time over many years and have taught many hundreds of students in that time.
The famed Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta in the early 2000’s introduced me to the indie-singer-songwriter genre. There were so many great writers and players that came out of that venue and that Atlanta indie scene. The emphasis on raw story and narrative, and stripped down production and playing opened up my songwriting.

Some of those players that influenced me most were Jeff Black, Pierce Pettis, Patti Griffin, Shawn Mullins and later Kathleen Edwards, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Gregory Alan Isakov, Celtic artist Kate Rusby, and so many others.
Some of these artists are published Nashville singer-songwriters, some are touring musicians. There’s so much great music out there, but most of it you won’t hear it on the radio. You have to dig. Below is a short playlist of some of these artists.
